SARAJEVO, Aug 15 (Hina) - The U.N. Secretary-General's special
envoy, Yasushi Akashi, will arrive in Sarajevo on Tuesday to hold
talks with the Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Ejup Ganic.
Their meeting was proposed by the Bosnian-Herzegovinian side,
as a spokeswoman for the U.N. Protection Force (UNPROFOR), Claire
Grimes, said today in Sarajevo. At the last meeting of Akashi and
Ganic the Bosnian side suggested that such talks should be
regularly held every month.
Tuesday's talks will centre on the current situation on the
battlefronts throughout Bosnia as well as on the activities of the
U.N. peacekeepers.
A meeting between the Bosnian-Herzegovinian government's
officials and representatives of Fikret Abdic (the local potentate
in western Bosnia) was held on Sunday, UNPROFOR spokeswoman told
journalists today.
The participants in Sunday's meeting discussed the
implementation of the Constitution of the Federation of B-H in
western Bosnia. They debated in particular the issue of the
military cooperation in this crisis area.
The two sides agreed to seek concrete measures aimed at
establishing a cease-fire between the government-led Bosnian army's
Fifth Corps and troops loyal to Abdic, Spokeswoman Grimes added.
Evaluating Sunday's meeting to be positive she announced that next
talks should be held in the French peacekeepers' base in Bihac.
