SARAJEVO, Aug 14 (Hina) - The Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Bosnian
Serb sides met today at Sarajevo airport to sign a U.N.-brokered
agreement on halting sniping fire in the Bosnian capital. The talks
were organized by the U.N. Protection Force (UNPROFOR). At today's
talks the two sides would probably discuss other questions in the
current situation in the city.
The situation in Sarajevo was considerably calmer in the last
24 hours than in the last few days, said a spokesman for UNPROFOR
Major Dacre Holloway. Only one incident was registered last night
in the Sarajevo greater area. Drunken Serb soldiers tried to force
their way into a U.N.-guarded arms depot at Bare (a northern
section of Sarajevo). They required French peacekeepers to hand
over heavy weapons to them, but French troops stood their ground.
The UNPROFOR headquarters in Sarajevo still do not know where
a Serb T-84 tank could be now located after being spotted inside
the U.N.-declared save haven of Sarajevo. Another anti-aircraft
cannon noticed on Friday at Ilidza (the Sarajevo suburb) within the
heavy weapons exclusion zone, is believed to remain in the zone.
