ZAGREB, July 14 (Hina) - Today's press conference at the UN
headquarters in Zagreb focused on yesterday's sudden attack by Serb
paramilitary formations in the Sinj area.
UN assistant spokesman Paul Risley said that three Serb
soldiers had run into a mine field in the disengagement zone on
Wednesday morning, adding that UN Canadian peace-keepers tried to
help them out of the zone. But Croatian soldiers opened small arms
fire, killing one Serb soldier and injuring another, said Risley.
UNPROFOR spokesman Michael Williams said that commander of the
NATO Southern Europe Admiral Leighton Smith is to arrive in Zagreb
on Saturday to meet for talks with U.N. commander General Bertrand
de Lapresle. The two will consider the situation if the warring
fanctions reject the Bosnia plan drawn up by the international
contact group.
