SIBENIK AND RIJEKA FISHERMEN PROTEST AT FUEL PRICE INCREASE

SIBENIK/RIJEKA, July 6 (Hina) - Fishermen of Murter, Jezera and Tribunj entered the Sibenik port at 1 p.m. on Wednesday to protest against fuel price increase. They said they decided not to block the port but only stage a peaceful protest and wait until the price of fuel was decreased. Sibenik fishermen complained they had to spend 65 percent of their income on fuel. The northern Adriatic port of Rijeka was blocked for an hour with about 40 boats this afternoon as fishermen protested against the increase of fuel price by 26 percent in sympathy with their colleagues in Dalmatia. 061711 MET jul 94
