ZAGREB, March 8 (Hina) - The Croatian defence ministry issued a
correction of a previously released statement concerning the
emergency landing of a Spanish UN aircraft at Krk airport on
Tuesday.
"Shortly after 11 a.m. today, a Spanish UN aircraft took off
from Zagreb for Split. While over the Serb-controlled Plasko area a
rocket was fired at the plane, missing the target. Then the Cesna
aircraft came under anti-aircraft machinegun fire and was hit in
the tail at 11:32 hours. It is quite certain that the rocket was
fired by Serb rebel forces of the so-called 39 Banija Corps.
Four crewmen and five passangers were aboard the plane, and
three people were slightly wounded.
The plane made an emergency landing at Krk airport (on the
northern Adriatic island of Krk) at 12:52 hours," the statement
said.
