KARLOVAC, March 3 (Hina) - After their negotiations with the Serb
paramilitary forces' delegation from UNPA North (the occupied area
of Croatia), which had taken place at the UNPROFOR check-point at
Turanj, representatives of the Croatian Army held a press-
conference in Karlovac today. They told journalists that the Serb
side had tried to accuse the Croatian Army of recent violations of
the agreed cease-fire, but UNPROFOR representatives resolutely
denied those allegations.
At the negotiations in Turanj an incident at the confrontation
line in Miksici on 27 February was also discussed by the two sides.
That day the Croatian Army noticed a group of the Serb paramilitary
soldiers approaching the mine-field near the check-point of the
Croatian Army. Although the Serb paramilitary soldiers were warned
not to go further, they continued to approach to the position of
the Croatian Army. Instead of surrendering to the Croatian Army,
the Serb terrorists opened fire. The Croatian Army was forced to
return fire, and one Serb paramilitary soldier was killed in that
clash, according to today's press-conference of the Croatian Army
representatives in Karlovac.
