ZAGREB, May 31 (Hina) - The situation in Croatia was relatively
calm, UN spokesman Christopher Gunness told reporters in Zagreb
today.
Rebel Serbs in the former Sector South were still partly
mobilized and they kept heavy weapons inside and near the
separation zone, Gunness said.
A small number of armed incidents were reported in the
southern part of the former Sector North patrolled by Ukrainian UN
peacekeepers.
Gunness described the situation in the Western Slavonia region
as calm, saying that UN peacekeepers reported the constant movement
of Croatian troops and special police along the highway near
Dragalic.
He said that the Croatian army was taking up defence positions
along the Sava River in the southern part of Western Slavonia.
