PRISTINA, May 30 (Hina) - The trial of 72 Albanians, 11 of whom are
on the run, commenced on Tuesday in Pristina, capital of the Kosovo
province (southern part of so-called Yugoslavia), with reinforced
security measures.
The indicted Albanians were ex-workers of the (former Serbian
Republic) police department of Kosovo.
Serb authorities indict them for the establishment of their
own Kosovo police by decree of Albanian-ethnic Kosovo government in
exile, in order to help create an independent Kosovo state that
might be joined to Albania.
The legal proceedings are being carried out by Dragoljub
Zdravkovic, a Serb judge who is known for conducting jury trials
for Albanians.
