IRANIAN VICE-PRESIDENT IN MOSTAR

MOSTAR, May 28 (Hina) - Iran's First Vice-President Hasan Habibi, today met Western Mostar Mayor Mijo Brajkovic. Habibi was accompanied by Bosnian Prime Minister Haris Silajdzic and Minister in the Croatian Government Zlatko Matesa. The talks, held at the Ero Hotel, were attended by the Mostar Administrator's deputy, Klaus Metscher, and EU Monitoring Mission reprsentative, Martin Garrot. "Despite the mistrust caused by the war, we have learned to live together and we are determined to create a unique city, which will promote communal living but also protect the national, cultural and religious identities," Brajkovic said. He emphasised the role of the European Administration and Mr. Koschnik in restoring normal life in Mostar. Habibi voiced the hope that the Croats and Moslems would learn to trust each other and live in peace and stability. "Our trilateral talks in Zagreb emphasised that cooperation between Croats and Moslems was the guarantee of peace and stability in the region," Habibi said. He said priority should be given to the reconstruction of cultural and religious monuments and facilities as "symbols of identity" of both peoples. "We hope that Mostar will show the way for building your Federation," Habibi concluded. Bosnian Premier Haris Silajdzic stressed the cooperation between Croatia, Bosnia and Iran as an example of international cooperation.
