SARAJEVO, May 24 (Hina) - Bosnian army chief commander Gen. Rasim
Delic today asked the UN Protection Force commander Gen. Rupert
Smith for a more decisive action, in order to prevent Serb attacks
at UN designated "safe areas" in Bosnia-Herzegovina, particularly
on the city of Sarajevo.
But no agreement on that had been reached, Gen. Delic said.
After the meeting held today morning in the of UN Turkish
battalion's base in Zenica, Gen. Delic said he had asked Gen. Smith
to take all that was necessary in order to insure the compliance
with the UN Security Council Resolution 900 as well as the control
over the heavy weapons inside the "exclusion zone" stretching 20
kilometers around the city centre.
After a short midday lull Serb forces resumed firing at the
government positions in Sarajevo area shortly before 3 p.m., mostly
at southern city defence line on Mt. Trebevic.
