ZAGREB, April 5 (Hina) - The Croatian economic and social council
(GSV) did not begin a scheduled discussion on the draft bill on
labour at a session today, since trade unions' representatives, to
whom the draft bill was sent yesterday, asked at least a week for
bringing into accord unions' positions on disputable elements of
the draft bill.
The GSV head and a representative of the Croatian
association of employers, Zeljko Ivancevic, emphasized that it was
urgent and necessary to adopt the labour act, which have been
drafted for four years. Ivancevic proposed that the GSV should be
continuously in session until consensus could be reached.
An aide to the Labour and Social Welfare Minister, Vera
Babic, also advocated the continuous session and the immediate
adoption of the labour draft bill.
