ZAGREB, March 23 (Hina) - President of the Government Office for
Refugees and Displaced Persons, Adalbert Rebic, today talked with
Swedish delegates about Sweden returning 5,000 Croatian and Bosnian
refugees with Croatian passports.
The Swedish delegation, led by assistant Labour Minister, Per
Almquist, included representatives of the Labour Ministry, the
Justice Ministry and Immigration Office.
Rebic explained that Bosnian refugees from Serb-held areas who
had Croatian passports would be given refugee status.
Refugees from liberated areas of the Bosnian Federation would not
be given refugee status, unless the Bosnian Federation Government
could prove that they could not return to their homes.
The Swedes said Croatia should provide for all refugees, but
Croatian delegates said there was no way Croatia could accommodate
all the refugees who had dual citizenship.
Rebic said he believed that Sweden would reverse its decision to
return refugees.
