ZAGREB, Feb 2 (Hina) - Trans-European railway experts from Poland,
Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia, discussed in the last four days in
Zagreb a pilot project for modernizing the railway Rijeka-Zagreb-
Budapest-Bratislava-Warsaw-Gdansk-port of Gdynia.
The meeting was sponsored by the UN Economic Committee for
Europe.
The project, initiated by Croatian Railways (HZ), would
reduce cargo transport time from the current 25 to 15 hours while
passenger transport would be faster by four hours, according to HZ
director Bartol Ivanus.
The pilot project would be implemented after all participating
coutries made nessesary preparations.
Ivanus added that with minimum investment passenger
transport time could be cut by 11 hours.
