ZAGREB, Jan 5 (Hina) - UNPROFOR experts, two Croatian Railways
officials and two UNPA Serb representatives are going to inspect
the whole length of the Zagreb-Okucani-Brod-Mirkovci railway, up to
the Croatian border town of Tovarnik, President Tudjman's Chief-of-
Staff Hrvoje Sarinic said today in a statement.
The experts were to report on the state of the railway by
January 10 and suggest repairs if necessary, the statement said.
The statement came after allegations that Croatia was
insisting the railway be open only as far as Mirkovci.
As part of the process of normalizing relations and restoring
Croatian authority in occupied areas, Croatia wants the railway to
be open from Zagreb to its eastern border, the statement said.
Sarinic yesterday held a successful meeting with Russia's
Foreign Ministry officials and Ambassador to Croatia Leonid
Kerestedjiants.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Department for
Europe, Vladimir Ivanovski, said Russia maintained its stance that
Croatia's sovereignty and territorial integrity could not be called
into question.
Such a view was also supported during a recent visit to Moscow
by Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivo Sanader, the statement
said.
