SARAJEVO, Jan 28 (Hina) - The European Union's commissioner for
humanitarian issues, Emma Bonino, Saturday held talks in Sarajevo
with Bosnia-Herzegovina's senior officials on the humanitarian
situation and war consequences.
Bonino told journalists that the chief purpose of her visit to
Sarajevo was to check the efficiency of the present way of
delivering humanitarian aid and to agree on new models of aid to
the civilian population.
Bosnian Federation's Refugees and Social Welfare Deputy
Minister, Martin Raguz, said the EU was one of most important
donors of humanitarian aid to the countries had emerged from the
former Yugoslavia.
He added that during today's talks Bosnian officials and
representatives of the EU commission for humanitarian aid had
agreed that this organization should increase the delivery of
relief aid by eight per cent this year. They also agreed that new
ways of dispatching humanitarian aid should be considered for
civilians in the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and that the
quality of relief aid should be at a higher level as well.
