UNSETTLED SITUATION IN BIHAC POCKET, UN SAYS

ZAGREB, Jan 5 (Hina) - A minor level of small arms incidents was recorded in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the last 24 hours, UN Protection Force spokesman, Paul Risley, said today in Zagreb. UNPROFOR described the developments in Bosnia as positive since the four-month cessation of hostilities pact was signed. But the UN was concerned with continued clashes in the Bihac pocket, western Bosnia. During fighting between the Bosnian Army's Fifth Corps with Moslem breakaway Abdic's troops and Croatia's rebel Serbs - 116 explosions occurred Wednesday, south and east of Velika Kladusa, Risley said. He reiterated UNPROFOR's demand to Croatia's rebel Serbs to withdraw from Bosnian territory. UN military observers reported skirmishes around Bosanska Krupa between Bosnian Serbs and Bosnian Army's Fifth Corps on Wednesday morning. The clashes ceased yesterday afternoon. The observers registered eleven explosions around Brcko in the so-called Bosnian Posavina corridor. Yesterday four UN, 11 UNHCR and one ICRC aircraft landed at Sarajevo Airport. A Canadian C-130 plane came under small arms fire while landing. A bullet hole was discovered on the plane afterwards. It was still unknown who had opened fire, Risley said. He added that the withdrawal of Bosnian Army from Krupac on the Mount Igman was still not complete. A UN convoy carrying supplies to Bangladeshi UN battalion in the Bihac pocket (which departed from Zagreb Wednesday morning), was now near Velika Kladusa waiting for clearance from Abdic's forces, Risley said adding that the 'blue helmets' were almost running out of fuel.
