SARAJEVO, Dec 16 (Hina) - An International Police Task Force (IPTF) member was attacked in Zvornik (eastern Bosnia) on Sunday when he attempted to stop a local Serb police officer who was beating a woman.

UN spokesman in Sarajevo Aleksandar Ivanko said on Monday that
the incident had happened in front of the police station in
Zvornik, adding that the IPTF officer had attempted to intervene
when he saw that the woman was subject to brutal physical violence.
However, the Serb police officer attacked the IPTF member and
threatened him with a gun.
IPTF command asked for the immediate dismissal of the Serb
police officer whose name had not been made public, not were the
reasons for the attack on the woman.
