TRAVNIK, Nov 16 (Hina) - The international community has set aside
28.5 million German marks for projects of reconstruction in the
Central Bosnian Canton, and some 5,200 houses and 1,000 apartments
are under reconstruction or have been reconstructed. #L#
According to the Bosnian Federation Urban Planning Ministry
information, out of a total of 56 projects in all the 11 canton
municipalities, most of them (43 percent) are intended for the
municipalities of Donji Vakuf and Gornji Vakuf, which are under the
control of the Bosnian armed forces and where the donator is mostly
the United States government.
Only one third of the projects have been intended for the
territory under the control of the Croatian Defense Council (HVO).
"It is a well-known fact that the Central Bosnian Canton has
suffered the most in the war, and I expect more attention to be
paid by the world community and donators to the reconstruction of
the housing fund and more awareness for a more even distribution of
donations to the Croatian and Moslem community in our canton which
has been established on the parity principle," prefect of the
Central Bosnian Canton, Ivan Saric said.
"I expect such an approach in the next year to enable around
90,000 refugees to return to their homes, out of which 66,000 are
Croats," Saric said.
