ZAGREB, Oct 29 (Hina) - Croatia's Privatization Fund (HFP) director
Milan Kovac asked the U.N. Transitional Administration (UNTAES)
officials in eastern Slavonia, Baranja and western Sirmium, to
enable Fund representatives to visit companies in the area in
question.
Firms in the Croatian area under the U.N. transitional
Administration are registered as the ownership of the Fund. It was
necessary soon to assess the state of the companies in order to
begin preparations for the ownership transformation and
privatization, M. Kovac told Daniel A. Vernon, an ownership
transformation advisor at the UNTAES civil affairs department.
Kovac said displaced people from the Croatian Danubian area
were calling him to ask him to do something in order to stop the
(Serb rebels') destruction of firms' assets and removal of property
to Serbia.
Vernon asked from the Fund a detailed list of firms and towns
and villages which experts should tour. It was agreed that a final
list would be drafted at the following meeting for a month.
