MOSTAR, Nov 1 (Hina) - After a three-hour meeting with Bosnian

Martin Garrod, Deputy High Representative for civilian issues in
Bosnia-Herzegovina Michael Steiner on Friday said that the
situation in Mostar was serious. #L#
Exile of people from apartments in Mostar had increased in the
last several days, Steiner said.
Stressing that the problem in Mostar was specific because
several police forces acted in the town, Steiner said that there
should be an integrated federal police in the whole of the Bosnian
Federation.
He said he would consult the international police force and
IFOR to find a way to establish a singular police force in Mostar.
The situation in Mostar was worsening, Ganic said, stressing
that it had been agreed at the meeting that a new round of talks
should be initiated with the international community in order to
stop negative trends in Mostar.
Garrod cited information that 15 persons had been exiled from
apartments in the past ten days, but failed to say which part of
town this happened in.
We must also condemn the attacks on the Franciscan monastery
and the stoning of vehicles on the Bulevar street, he added.
Recalling that 94 houses had been destroyed near Prijedor, 50
in Banja Luka and 90 south of Drvar, Steiner said that forces which
wanted to prevent the return of refugees were using the destruction
as a way to send signals that the return was not possible.
As an antidote, those responsible for the destruction of
houses had to be punished and Croat, Serb and Moslem refugees from
both entities had to unite, Steiner said.
