Garrod handed the authority over the united police forces in
Mostar to the Neretva Canton authorities three days ago.
He expressed anger about the stoning of vehicles on Mostar's
main street Bulevar which passes through the Bosniac Mahala suburb
in south Mostar, warning that someone would get killed sooner or
later.
As regards the recent stoning of a Franciscan monastery and
throwing of explosive devices at the monastery, Garrod said that he
could not understand the mentality of the people who attacked
religious buildings.
Commenting on a letter forwarded to the president of the
provisional electoral committee, Robert Frowick, by the president
of the Mostar HDZ Mile Puljic, asking that local municipal
elections be held in Mostar as well, Garrod said that he saw no
reason for OSCE to change its decision about not holding the
municipal elections in Mostar.
He also told reporters that he had received two letters from
the leaders of the "Velez" football club from eastern Mostar,
asking that the club be allowed to play football in the town
stadium in western Mostar. This issue would be discussed after a
session of Mostar's town council which is to take place on October
23, Garrod said.
