The French Ambassador held that there were still many
difficulties in the process of the peaceful reintegration of
eastern Croatia, but, he added, there were also reasons for
optimism about the integration's completion.
The Croatian official told him about the talks between
Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman and the U.N. Transitional
Administrator in eastern Croatia, Jacques Klein.
The Croatian Government's stance on the elections in the
Croatian Danubian area was based on Croatian legislation and
politics. At the same time Croatia was aware of the international
community's requests, Kostovic said to Gaillarde.
Croatia was expecting from the UNTAES to be more involved in
investigations of murders in the area, Kostovic said informing the
Ambassador of Croatian experts' preparations for making
identifications of victims from the Ovcara mass grave near Vukovar.
