International peace mediator Carl Bildt's spokesman, Colum
Murphy Thursday said that late last night excavators had come at
the spot where the most beautiful mosque, 'Ferhadija' had used to
be, to remove remnants of the building that was torn down in an
explosion in 1993. On Wednesday night the excavators pulled down a
house called 'mesdzid' where few remaining Bosniacs-Moslems had
been coming for religious services after all mosques had been
destroyed by Serb extremists in Banja Luka.
"It is a disgusting barbarous act, and we demand that such
action stop," Murphy said.
"Besides issuing a resolute protest to Serb authorities, we
also want to say to authorities in Sarajevo not to let themselves
be provoked," he added.
