The meeting was also attended by Major Ivan Grujic, head of
the Government Commission for Missing Persons.
Granic informed the two delegations about Croatia's efforts in
establishing contacts with Yugoslavia after the signing of the
Normalization Agreement and with the international community, with
the aim of solving the problem of missing persons.
Major Grujic informed representatives of 'Croatian Phoenix'
and 'Vukovar Mothers' about the results of the last meeting of the
Croatian and Yugoslav commissions for missing persons, when the
fate of 20 missing Croatian citizens had been established.
Croatia was not satisfied with the pace the problem of missing
persons was being solved at, Grujic said, adding that it was a
positive sign that the two sides were meeting every 10 days.
Granic promised that the problem of missing persons would be
the main topic of the next meeting with Yugoslav Foreign Minister
Milan Milutinovic.
Contacts had also been established with Bosnian Serbs, Major
Grujic said, adding that some progress had been made in those
contacts. Croatia has the status of an observer in the Bosnian
working group for missing persons.
At the end of today's meeting, Granic and representatives of
the two organizations stressed the importance of regular meetings
and consultations.
