LJUBLJANA, Sept 19 (Hina) - Yugoslavia is attempting to launder and
hide the former Yugoslavia's foreign exchange reserves in mixed-
ownership banks, Slovenian Bank deputy governor Andrej Rant told a
news conference on Thursday. #L#
He said he had informed of this a delegation of the
International Monetary Fund (IMF) which is in Slovenia in its
regular mission.
He told the IMF delegation that it was necessary to keep the
joint assets of the former Yugoslavia untouched until the end of
the succession process.
Rant said he opposed the idea of the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia becoming a member of the IMF in such a way that it would
pay its debts towards this institution with other people's assets.
Slovenia had filed a request for a permanent blockade of
assets transferred from Yugoslavia's central bank to the Belgrade
Bank in Cyprus, and it recently requested a blockade of the former
Yugoslavia's foreign exchange assets in eight banks in France.
