the Agreement on the normalisation of Yugoslav-Croatian relations
represents a crucial step in the solution of the Yugoslav crisis
and secures the return of peace to the region of the former

The statement, published on the first pages of Yugoslav
dailies, said that the agreement would be signed Friday by the
foreign ministers of the two countries, Mate Granic and Milan
Milutinovic.
'The agreement sets long-term foundations for the development
of relations and cooperation between FRY and the Republic of
Croatia, in the interest of the peoples and citizens of both
countries, as well as for the solution of certain questions, caused
by the Yugoslav crisis', said the statement, adding that the
agreement created conditions for the adoption of acceptable
solutions during further negotiations 'regarding territorial
issues'.
'The federal government holds that the active approach of FRY
in the negotiations on the adoption of this agreement represents
another confirmation of our constructive contribution to the
strengthening of peace and stabilisation of the situation in the
former Yugoslavia region', the statement said.
