ZAGREB, Sept 9 (Hina) - Deputy Croatian Foreign Minister Ivan
Simonovic on Monday told Hina that today's exchange of notes of the
Republic of Croatia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in
Zagreb and Belgrade signified "the end of the political and
diplomatic-legal procedure of mutual recognition of the two
countries within their international borders".
Simonovic added that "with the establishment of diplomatic
relations, the Croatian bureau in Belgrade and the Yugoslav bureau
in Zagreb were raised to the level of embassies and the two
countries will exchange ambassadors".
Simonovic pointed out that "the act of mutual diplomatic
recognition and the establishment of diplomatic relations
facilitates the solving of the remaining open issues, which will
undoubtedly be a contribution to the process of peaceful
reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area, but also to peace in
this part of Europe".
