SARAJEVO, Aug 21 (Hina) - The Electoral Subcommission of the
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) which is
in charge of supervising the process of pre-election activities and
ensuring they are performed in line with the electoral regulations,
on Wednesday requested that the president of the local electoral
commission in Mostar step down from his post due to discovered
irregularities concerning the registry of voters.
The OSCE also pronounced penalty measures for the Bosnian
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). #L#
The statement issued by OSCE in Sarajevo on Wednesday said
that a member of the Bosnian HDZ had gathered filled out registry
forms from the registry office in Jasenica without authorization.
The president of the local electoral commission would have to
be replaced because he was responsible for the employees' mistakes,
the statement said.
That had been a serious violation of integrity,
confidentiality and unbiasness of the process of registering
voters, the statement said.
The party would have to pay 10,000 U.S. dollars penalty, the
statement said.
