SARAJEVO, Aug 19 (Hina) - The NATO-led peace Implementation Force
(IFOR) in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Monday began destroying the
ammunition found in an undeclared Bosnian Serb depot near the town
of Sokolac on Mount Romanija.
IFOR spokesman Bratt Boudreau told a news conference in
Sarajevo that 300 tons of explosive, mines and ammunition for small
arms had been transferred from a former school building in the
village of Margetici to two sites to be destroyed.
The area was closely guarded by about 2,000 IFOR troops.
Boudreau said that 50 tons of the seized ammunition would be
destroyed on Monday while the rest would be blown up until the end
of the week.
He added that all steps had been taken to neutralize the
possibility of environmental pollution or damage to villages around
Margetici.
