IFOR PATROL ATTACKED NEAR SANSKI MOST

SARAJEVO, Aug 9 (Hina) - An IFOR patrol suddenly came under small arms fire 10 km south-west of Sanski most on Thursday morning, IFOR spokesman Bratt Boudreau told reporters in Sarajevo on Thursday. Czech troops immediately returned fire, wounding two attackers. The attackers were Bosnian Serbs armed with machine-guns and dressed up as civilians. One was caught, taken to hospital and interrogated. The other managed to escape, but left his jacket and ID behind for the military police to find. The inspection of an ammunition warehouse near the Serb- controlled village of Markovici, showed a large quantity of illegally stored ammunition, Boudreau said. NATO troops immediately took control of about 300 tonnes of ammo, including rockets, TNT explosive, five thousand mines and a large quantity of bullets. The whole lot will soon be seized and probably destroyed, Boudreau said. IFOR has also checked the remaining twenty Bosnian Serb warehouses, radio relays and training grounds that were registered after the expiry of the deadlined. The data have been fowarded to Gen. Walker, who will decide whether the equipment is to be seized or not. (hina) as 091424 MET aug 96
