SARAJEVO/BIJELJINA, Aug 7 (Hina) - International Police Force
spokesman Patrick Swenson on Wednesday warned of a new attempt of
intimidating leaders of political parties in western Bosnia.
The local Moslem police on Monday apprehended Besim Saric,
president of the Bosnian Party of Rights for the Bihac region,
under charges of criminal acts. #L#
Saric was arrested just before a pre-election meeting of his
party which should have taken place in Cazin, western Bosnia, at
which he was to speak.
He told the International Police that after his arrest, the
Cazin police officers had questioned him about his political stance
and that the criminal act with which he had allegedly been charged,
had not even been mentioned.
Swenson said that such behaviour by the local police was not
acceptable, and that the local authorities had been forwarded a
letter of protest.
