ZAGREB, August 6 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic on
Tuesday received the incoming president of the Joint Implementation
Committee for Human Rights within the UNTAES Civil Administration,
Swedish Ambassador Henrik Amneus, the Croatian Foreign Ministry
said in a statement.
Granic and Amneus discussed the course of the peaceful
reintegration of eastern Slavonia, Baranja and western Srijem and
the constitutional and legal system of the Republic of Croatia.
Croatia wanted the process to be completed in the agreed time,
Granic said, adding that any slowing down would question the
implementation of the whole peace process.
Croatia guaranteed the respect of human and ethnic minority
rights to local inhabitants of eastern Slavonia, Baranja and
western Srijem in accordance with west-European norms and
standards, the Croatian Foreign Minister concluded.
