Mostar publicized a regulation on the official results of local
elections which were held on 30 June. #L#
According to the regulation, the EU Administration announced
results of the 30 June elections in the form they had been
established by the Mostar Election Commission.
The list of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in Bosnia-
Herzegovina won 26,464 votes; the list of citizens 'For a United
Mostar' won 28,165 votes; the Croatian Pure Party of Rights won 616
and the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) 389 votes. The Joint List of
Bosnia-Herzegovina for Mostar won 1,921 votes, while independent
candidates won 167 votes.
The total of 99,143 voters had been registered in electoral
lists. The turnout was 59,368 and there were 782 invalid ballots,
the regulation said.
The EU Administration also publicized a list of 37 Mostar City
Council members. Out of those 37 members, 16 will be Croats, 16
Bosniac-Muslims while the remaining five seats are intended for
candidates of other nationalities.
According to the list, all 16 seats intended for Croats were
won by the HDZ in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The 'For a United Mostar'
list won two seats and the coalition of the Party of Democratic
Action (SDA) and Liberal-Bosniac Organisation (candidates were
elected at the level of municipalities) won the remaining 14
Bosniac seats. All five seats for representatives of other
nationalities were won by the list 'For a United Mostar'. Not a
single HDZ candidate managed to won a seat in this category.
The EU Administration commissioner Constantin Zepos annulled
the decision of the Mostar Election Commission to annul the
election results at the polling station in Bonn, where some 26
extra ballots had been discovered.
