In an interview on Kragujevac local radio, Stanimirovic said
that the demilitarization of the area, which should be completed by
20 June, 'is proceeding without major standstills'.
The local Serbs would make no problems as regards steps Zagreb
and Belgrade were taking as regards the Zagreb-Belgrade highway,
the oil pipeline and the railway.
'I could not say that tensions are decreased by those moves,
but we are aware of the fact that sooner or later we will be
integrated into some parts of Croatia's system'.
According to Stanimirovic, the Mirkovci assembly (eastern
Slavonia) last Friday asked that the UNTAES mandate in the region
be extended for another 12 months.
