'UNTAES has made it clear to the Serb leadership and reporters
that this cannot not be achieved', Boothby said after talks with
Croatian Vice Premier Ivica Kostovic.
The currency in eastern Slavonia will be the Croatian kuna.
'There is no doubt about it. When the time comes, the currency will
be kuna. We just have to chose the right moment and the right way
to introduce it, and make the transition period as mild as
possible', Boothby said.
Vice Premier Kostovic and Boothby held talks on programs of
return, the training of police forces and ways of recruiting new
UNTAES police officers, as well as on economic programs for the
area.
The talks also included the Amnesty Act. Kostovic said that
the Justice Ministry would soon hold a press conference at which
they would explain what the act meant in practice.
