Finkielkraut on Sunday held a lecture at the Osijek Faculty of
Pedagogy, called "Croatia and Europe". #L#
Stressing that in France and Europe there were still theses
that the international recognition of Croatia and Slovenia had
caused war in these states, Finkielkraut stressed in his lecture
that such opinions repeatedly call for "the need for the
establishment of factual chronology", adding that he was still
warning the French public that the recognition of Croatia came
about after the destruction of Vukovar.
Speaking of European politics towards the war in Croatia and
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Finkielkraut said that Europe, even after the
pulling down of the Berlin wall, still had the Munich Agreement
inheritance, which was characterized by "a cynical indifference
towards the faith of small nations, arrogance towards their culture
and political egoism which is ready for all compromises aimed at
maintaining peace".
"Even if Europe did not stick to its principles, it does not
mean that they hold no value," Finkielkraut said, describing
discarding Europe and its principles as "the worst possible
consequence of the Munich inheritance".
