OSIJEK, Jun 7 (Hina) - The Osijek-based Croatian army commander, Col. Gen. Duro Decak, presented the Order of Nikola Subic Zrinski to UN generals Freddy van de Weghe and Juri Sosedov in Osijek on Friday. The two generals were
decorated by President Tudjman for their outstanding merits in keeping peace in the area.

Col. Gen. Duro Decak, presented the Order of Nikola Subic Zrinski
to UN generals Freddy van de Weghe and Juri Sosedov in Osijek on
Friday. The two generals were decorated by President Tudjman for
their outstanding merits in keeping peace in the area. #L#
Presenting the decorations, Gen. Decak said the assistance of
the highly professional UN Protection Force had been of utmost
importance in preventing overt conflicts in former Sector East.
"Gens. Wan de Weghe and Sosedov performed their duties in very
difficult conditions... their professional attitude helped defuse
tensions and made dialogue possible," he said.
Gen. van den Weghe and Deputy UNTAES Commander, Col. Lev
Lukovnikov, acting on Gen. Sosedov's behalf, expressed their thanks
for the decorations.
Also present were IFOR and EU Monitor Mission representatives,
as well as the Belgian Ambassador to Croatia, Frans Hintjens.
UNTAES Commander Gen. Joseph Schoups confirmed that the
demilitarisation of the Croatian Danubian Area would be completed
by June 20.
