President Tudjman expressed satisfaction with the completed
reconstruction of western Slavonia, stressing that some 8,000
houses in Croatia had been reconstructed so far. Some 20,000 houses
would be reconstructed by the end of the year, he added.
'We have won victories, we have won the war, we have got
international recognition and our own state, we have changed
strategic relations in this part of the world and we have become a
regional power, but there are still those who want to be the
masters of our fate and return us to the Balkans. Some of us are
either not aware of it or want others to rule us in this way or
another: with a great-Serbian or master's power. We will know how
to preserve our freedom, independence and state', President Tudjman
said.
