"As I was one of those who supported the continuing of
negotiations with the HDZ, in line with the 50 articles which we
formulated, because I believe that in the history of our party and
in the history of the Croatian multi-party system this is a great
event, and as the talks did not get the support of the body of
which I am president, I have submitted my resignation," Budisa
said.
The HSLS Big Council decided to support the candidature of
Vlado Gotovac as state president at the next presidential
elections.
The president of the HSLS, Gotovac, said that the president of
the party and the Small Council, which had led the negotiations so
far, did not have the right to continue the talks with the HDZ
after the decision of the Big Council.
"The talks are, therefore, concluded," Gotovac said.
