POZEGA, May 7 (Hina) - Two officials with the Service for the
Protection of Constitutional Order, charged with eliciting evidence
by unlawful means and inflicting grievous bodily harm, were
arraigned before the Pozega County Court today.
The alleged victim, Sefik Mujkic, died from the wounds
allegedly inflicted during interrogation.
According to the indictment, the defendants, Zlatko Plazibat
(1964) and Miroslav Tarnaj (1945), inflicted grievous bodily harm
on Mujkic while interrogating him as a suspect in an espionage case
on September 15, 1995.
Judge Zarko Kralj rejected the defence's motion for closed-
door proceedings, on the grounds that that the suspects were not
being tried for espionage but for abuse of authority.
