YUGOSLAV AUTHORITIES BAR ELEVEN ALBANIANS FROM ENTERING COUNTRY

BELGRADE, April 30 (Hina) - Yugoslavia's authorities have barred 11 ethnic Albanians from the southern province of Kosovo from entering the country despite the fact that they possess valid passports, the Belgrade-based independent Beta news agency said on Monday. The Albanians had arrived at the airport of the provincial capital Kosovo a few days ago and were transferred to Belgrade airport which they were not allowed to leave, Beta quoted attorney Husnija Bitic as saying. Among them was a twenty-year-old girl of Pec who had flown to Rome four times and each time had been turned back to Belgrade without explanation. She has been at Belgrade's Surcin airport for 13 days now, Bitic said. "There's no legal ground for such actions by authorities," Bitic said, adding that this was "the third or fourth time since the beginning of this year that the same, unlawful steps have been taken against ethnic Albanians."
