ZAGREB, April 16 (Hina) - The Croatian and Yugoslav government
commissions for missing persons ended the first round of talks in
Zagreb on Tuesday and expressed hope that their efforts to find
information on missing persons and obtain the release of prisoners
of war would be successful.
The two commissions were expected to issue a joint statement
on the results of the talks. It was announced that the talks may
continue on Wednesday.
The president of the Croatian government commission for
imprisoned and missing persons, Major Ivan Grujic, told a press
conference that Croatia demanded information on all persons who
were held in prison and were on the list of missing persons.
Croatia also demanded documents on identification of 1,400
persons who had been killed in war, Grujic said, adding that the
meeting had started in a good atmposphere and that he expected
conctrete results.
The president of the Yugoslav government commission for
humanitarian issues and missing persons, Pavle Todorovic, described
the work of the two commissions over the last few months as
"extraordinarily fruitful."
Todorovic said that Yugoslavia expected an agreement on the
release of all prisoners.
The talks were also attended by Red Cross representatives of
Croatia and Yugoslavia and the head of the International Committee
of the Red Cross mission to Croatia, Alex Braunwalder.
