Tihomir Blaskic, after he heard his indictment before the
International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The
Hague on Wednesday. #L#
'I plead complete innocence', Blaskic said, answering to a
question by the head of the Tribunal's court of first instance,
Claude Jorda.
Blaskic's defender, Zagreb lawyer Zvonimir Hodak, asked
representatives of the prosecution to provide him with all the
material on which the indictment is based, so that he could prepare
for Blaskic's defence.
A prosecution representative, Eric Ostberg said that the
prosecution was ready to provide Blaskic's defenders with the
material, but that this would take a month. The court had to
provide protection of witnesses. There were many witnesses, Ostberg
said, adding the court was dealing with an indictment against six
persons.
Hodak asked that he be provided with the material as soon as
possible and proposed that part of the material be given to him by
24 April.
President of the Tribunal accepted Hodak's proposal and called
the next hearing for 24 April at 4 pm. The hearing will be held
behind closed doors.
