The establishment of friendly partnership relations between
Croatia and the U.S. had been reached primarily in the military
field which enabled the friendly relations to develop in all other
areas, which is to be seen at an impending meeting of Croatian and
U.S. business people, Tudjman said at Saturday's news conference.
"I brought President Tudjman warm, personal greetings from
President Clinton. The President and I both admire the courage of
President Tudjman in reaching the Dayton accords and reaching the
diplomatic settlement of eastern Slavonia. And we especially thank
him for the outstanding support he has provided to IFOR," William
Perry said.
Tudjman added that Croatia would do everything on its side to
see the Dayton peace accords implemented consistently and that
steps had been taken to suggest to the government of the Bosnian
Federation a number of concrete agreements which would arrive at
strongest economic, transport and cultural ties between the
Federation and Croatia.
Speaking about bilateral relations, Perry reiterated that he
would personally initiate the question of admitting Croatia into
the NATO "Partnership for Peace" program.
Croatia would establish a complete cooperation with the
Tribunal in The Hague and a Bill was being debated before the
Croatian Parliament which would enable such a cooperation, Tudjman
reiterated.
