"Forgiveness which will liberate the human heart from the
feeling of revenge is an act of faith in conversion of the fellow
man," John Paul II said.
"Forgiveness transcends the norms of human justice but does
not hinder its course, especially regarding trials for war crimes,"
John Paul II said, stressing that he hoped to "convey a message of
peace and reconciliation to Sarajevo" soon.
