ZAGREB, March 8 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Friday received a delegation of the Assemblies of Bosnia-
Herzegovina and the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, which were
headed by their presidents Mariofil Ljubic and Miro Lazovic, a
statement from the President's Office said. #L#
Historical and geopolitical reasons and the fate of the Croat
people in Bosnia-Herzegovina had caused Croatia's interest in
models aimed at solving the problem of Bosnia-Herzegovina during
the disintegration of Yugoslavia, President Tudjman said.
Croatia favoured the implementation of the Washington and
Dayton agreements as well as the functioning of the Federation of
Bosnia-Herzegovina as well as its linking with Croatia because
those issues guaranteed the realisation of Croat and Bosniac
interests, as well as interests of Serbs who lived on the territory
of the Federation, Tudjman stressed.
The implementation of the agreement on the Federation would
not be an easy task and one had to do everything to avoid past
mistakes. New co-existence had to be built, without domination of
one people, Tudjman said.
Difficulties were understandable, President of the Assembly of
the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina Mariofil Ljubic said, but one
had to provide instruments for the establishment of equality of all
peoples.
President of the Assembly of Bosnia-Herzegovina Miro Lazovic
thanked President Tudjman for the reception, adding that the
meeting would help a speedier solution of problems on the ground.
The presidents of both assemblies agreed with President
Tudjman that there is no alternative to the Federation.
The talks were also attended by the chairman of the Croatian
Parliament, Vlatko Pavletic, President Tudjman's Chief-Of-Staff Ivo
Sanader, State Seal Keeper Ivan Milas, Tudjman's advisor on social
affairs, Zlatko Canjuga and special advisor Djordje Pribicevic.
The delegation of the Assemblies of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the
Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina included Edhem Bicakcic, Hase
Hajrulahovic, Ivan Bender, Mirko Prskalo, Kasim Begic, Rasim Kadic,
Igor Rajner and Suada Karovic. Present at the meeting were also the
Croatian Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Darinko Bago, and the
Ambassador of Bosnia-Herzegovina to Croatia, Kasim Trnka, the
statement said.
