The delegations included AGIP's General Manager Guglielmo
Moscato, the Deputy General Manager Dario Cifoni and the General
Manager for the Italian region Angelo Belotti. The INA was
represented by the General Manager Andrija Kojakovic and the
Executive Director for research and the production of oil and gas
Marijan Pejcic.
The delegations informed the President on the joint project of
exploiting gas in the northern Adriatic worth 370 million U.S.
dlrs, which is the INA's largest business since Croatia's
independence. The works, which will enable employment of about two
thousand workers, were predicted to begin by the end of the year,
while the exploitation was scheduled to start at the beginning of
1997.
Moscato underscored that the AGIP, having business ties with
28 countries worldwide, had great experience in researching the
gas-beds and oil in the Adriatic and that this firm had been doing
business with INA for many years, not only in Croatia but also
abroad.
By wishing the delegations success in the accomplishment of
this joint project, President Tudjman also expressed confidence
that this will deepen the trade and economy cooperation between
Croatia and Italy.
The meeting was also attended by President's chief of staff
Ivo Sanader and President's economy adviser Marko Skreb, the
statement said.
