ZAGREB, Feb 17 (Hina) - The Dayton agreement was not threatened and
difficulties in its implementation could be overcome, Croatia's
President Franjo Tudjman said Saturday before his departure for

and Serbia's President Slobodan Milosevic as well as with
representatives of the United States and the Contact Group for
Bosnia-Herzegovina. The purpose of the summit is to give new

deal on Bosnia-Herzegovina. #L#
'The Dayton agreement is not jeopardized. It was not realistic
to expect that everything would go smoothly. There are some
problems, but not only in Mostar', Tudjman told reporters at Zagreb
airport, adding that 'those problems are not that difficult that
they could not be overcome in the interest of peace and our
ultimate aims'.
'Tomorrow's meeting in Rome is important only to the extent
that the difficulties which have cropped up could be overcome and
that we proceed with the implementation', Tudjman said.
The Croatian President will have a separate meeting with
Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic and discuss with him ways to
solve the crisis in Mostar. Asked whether he expected that the Rome
summit would result in a solution for the Mostar problem, Tudjman
said: "It is not only the question of Mostar, but the question of
the implementation of the whole agreement on the Federation of
Bosnia-Herzegovina".
During his stay in Rome, Tudjman would also meet Italian
President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro.
The Croatian delegation, headed by President Tudjman, includes
Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic, Defence Minister Gojko Susak
(who is to join the delegation in Rome), aides to the Foreign
Minister, Ivan Simonovic and Hidajet Biscevic, Ambassador to the
United States, Miomir Zuzul and Ambassador to Italy, Davorin
Rudolf.
