SARAJEVO, Feb 20 (Hina) - The Rome summit was an important step
forward in implementing the Dayton peace agreement in Bosnia,
visiting British Foreign Secretary Malcom Rifkind said in Sarajevo
on Tuesday.
The Rome talks were very successful, Rifkind told a news
conference after meeting Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic.
Rifkind recalled Izetbegovic's contribution to efforts aimed
at resolving the problem of Mostar and stressed that the most
important thing was to ensure the full freedom of movement and to
unify the southern city.
He emphasized that the London government wanted to contribute
to the establishment of peace and assist in the reconstruction of
the war-ravaged country.
Rifkind said that there was no reason to doubt that the
Bosnian Serbs would not cooperate in the peace implementation
process following the weekend summit in Rome.
The British diplomat also met Premier Hasan Muratovic and
Foreign Minister Jadranko Prlic.
