LOWER HOUSE ADOPTS STATE AUDITORS' REPORT

ZAGREB, Feb 14 (Hina) - The House of Representatives today adopted Conclusions approving a Report on the work of the State Audit Office in 1995 and the State Auditors' Report for 1994, submitted to the House at the last session. The Conclusions gave full support to the State Audit Office and instructed the Government and various government bodies to take steps to remedy the irregularities specified in the report. The Conclusions were tabled by the ruling HDZ party and seconded by the SDP (Social Democratic Party) and HSP (Croatian Party of Rights). They were adopted with 58 ayes, 22 noes and one abstention. The Conclusions enjoined the police, the State Attorney's Office, the financial police and Inland Revenue to report to the Parliament, within three months, on the proceedings that have been instituted against those responsible for the irregularities and financial fraud denounced in the Audit Report. The report is to specify the names of suspects and the counts on which they are to face trial. The Government was enjoined to investigate the involvement of civil servants in illegal transactions within three months. Alternative Conclusions tabled by the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) and by the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) were rejected. (hina) jn as 141508 MET feb 96
